What is Report + Support?
It is NESCol’s online platform for reporting concerns, seeking support and accessing information about safety, wellbeing, equality and respectful behaviour.
Who can use it?
Students, staff and visitors can use the platform to share a concern or find support information.
Do I have to give my name?
No. You can report anonymously. You can also provide contact details and ask the Safeguarding Team to contact you.
What is anonymous messaging?
It allows you to send and receive messages about an anonymous report without providing your name or contact details.
How do I access anonymous messages?
Use the unique 16 character access code provided after you submit the report. Save the code securely.
What happens if I lose the code?
The code cannot be recovered, reset or replaced. You may submit a new anonymous report and explain that it relates to an earlier report, or Contact an Adviser.
Will I receive a response to an anonymous report?
You can only receive messages if you opt into anonymous messaging and return using your access code. Messages are reviewed during College working hours and are not monitored continuously.
What happens after I Contact an Adviser?
The Safeguarding Team will review the information and contact you using the safe contact details provided to discuss support and possible next steps.
Can someone report for me?
Someone can raise a concern about you or support you to complete a report. The report should clearly distinguish between information known directly and information shared by someone else.
Can I report a concern about a member of staff?
Yes. Report + Support can be used to report safeguarding concerns about staff. These concerns are routed to the appropriate People Services safeguarding route.
Will my lecturer or manager be told?
Information is not shared automatically. It will only be shared where there is an appropriate reason and will be limited to what is necessary and proportionate.
Is Report + Support confidential?
Information is handled carefully and access is restricted. Complete confidentiality cannot be promised where information must be shared to protect someone or meet a legal obligation.
Can NESCol take action from an anonymous report?
NESCol will review every report. The action available may be limited where there is insufficient information or the people involved cannot be identified. Anonymous information may still support preventative or protective action.
Can I ask for support without making a formal complaint?
Yes. You can ask for information and support without committing to a formal complaint. Where safeguarding action is necessary, the Safeguarding Team will explain this.
What if I need an adjustment or accessible format?
Tell us what would help. NESCol will consider reasonable adjustments and accessible ways to communicate or provide support.
What if the situation is urgent?
Report + Support is not an emergency service. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 999.
